Picture Day

Today I took baby Evan to JCPenney for his first real photo shoot. I must have had too high of expectations, both that Evan would smile lots and that the photographer would be amazing. I came home disappointed. Baby Evan was bathed, rested and fed before he went, but he just wasn't in a smiley mood. I think he was a little "shy" about his strange surroundings and the strange lady talking to him. I was so sad! He's usually such a smiler and he just wouldn't do his huge smiles- just a few half smiles.
Okay, so I realize that's life, right- that your kids won't look perfect for their pictures, so get over it. But I was mostly disappointed in the photographer. She was nice, but I expected her to know some good poses for babies and she just didn't impress me. I don't know- she just seemed new at the whole idea and I wanted/expected someone who said, "okay, now do this, let's have him in this position..." I didn't think she did a very good job. So all in all, I'm disapppointed and there weren't any desperately to-die-for pics. I ordered a few still but man, I guess I just thought they'd be amazing. Has anyone else had similar experiences with professional pics? Probably it could have been worse- he could have been screaming.
After all the talk of pics, this post has no pictures considering I don't have them yet. Sorry.

Yes, especially there. It is all a matter of luck. They have some great photographers and some that I wonder if they have ever even taken a picture before. Sorry you weren't happy. We have a membership there so if I don't like the pictures I just don't buy any and it doesn't cost anything. But I wouldn't necessarily recomend the place.

Eeew, I just had the same problem at the same place last week! I blame half of it on baby Ethan's lame mood and half on the photographer. She refused to tickle him with the duster, since it "could have other kids' germs". But the ONLY thing that EVER works for Baby Ethan is the feather duster. Lame. You could try Target, since they don't charge sitting fees...at least I think they don't. Or, if you want to spend the cash, Kiddie Kandids is AMAZING. They take like four pictures, and they all turn out PERFECT. They are truly gifted.

OHHH!!! Picture day is always a VERY STRESSFUL day for me!!! I worry and stress about every little point with the boys and with the photographer! I haven't had much luck with JCPenny either! I went there once and was not impressed with the photographer. I love Target for pictures, but in Des Moines they only have a photo studio in a Target pretty far.........somewhere by I-80 in Urbandalle I think? That place at Jordan Creek, I can't remember the name now, right by Archiver's..... there are good, but expensive.
Post pictures of him when you get them! I'm sure they are still cute because they're of him!
